Chair-room order book. Feb. 1884- March 1885.

Order book covers the time between February 1884 and March 1885. Arranged chronologically, it is a record of the places where Shaker chairs were sold. Included is information about the quantity of chairs, the style or size number (for example 2 no. 6 chairs), the color of the webbing, the date shipped, and the name and location of the store (New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Pittsfield, Mass., Chicago, and Troy, N.Y., are among the places mentioned). Missing are the charges for the chairs and shipping. Five pages at the end of the manuscript contain a list of stores with which the Shakers did business. Although the community which kept this book is not named in the volume, it is presumed to be from New Lebanon, N.Y.
